Presentation: Dr. WordPress or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Template

This presentation will discuss the development of a magazine site with over 4,000 posts actively updated daily by a large team of writers and editors.  We will discuss migrating a multisite install of a very old version of WordPress into a modern day single install.  Discuss providing a solution where the client can redesign page layouts in-house with no coding knowledge through the use of a premium theme and a multitude of plugins.

What attracted you to WordPress in the first place?

I was looking for a CMS solution for websites. I played around with alternatives but really liked the ease of use and active WordPress community.

What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?

The positive energy that is created when you get a bunch of clever and energetic people together.

Why did you decide to speak?

I hope to give confidence to new users of WordPress.  Hopefully my presentation will break down what seems like a complicated project into a manageable one for developers that might not be rock star coders.

What is your favourite plugin or theme, and why?

Gravity Forms is pretty ridiculous how good it is. Drag and drop is my kind of programming! I like the theme builder Kriesi.  For the power of the themes but also the support provided when issues arise.
